Indiscriminate Russian attacks have caused numerous civilian casualties, collapsing apartment buildings in downtown Ukraine and blowing up a bus.

According to Reuters, AFP, and other foreign media outlets on the 8th (local time), two city buses were blown up by Russian military bomb attacks in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk.

Regional authorities stated that at least 33 people, including passengers on the buses, were killed instantly in the attack.

The damage is reported to have been more severe as the bomb struck near a bus stop.

The capital city of Kyiv was also targeted by Russian drone attacks, leaving 3 civilian dead and 14 others injured.

This latest airstrike came just a day after an apartment building in northern Ukraine was hit the previous day, killing 19 people, including 5 children.

As Russian attacks targeting energy facilities continue, power supply in downtown Kyiv has also faced disruptions.

Ukrainian energy company DTEK announced that it is implementing emergency power outages in Kyiv, separate from the scheduled rolling blackouts.

Despite escalating pressure from Russia, Ukraine faces a difficult situation as it lacks the air defense systems capable of blocking Russian ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones.

Air defense resources such as Patriot systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles have been depleted globally since the outbreak of the war in Iran this February.

While jet-powered drones from Russia, which are up to three times faster than conventional drones and difficult to intercept, are being countered with F-16 fighter jets, critics point out that it is inefficient to deploy fighter jets every time against hundreds of drones flying in daily.

Ukraine continues its attacks centering on core infrastructure such as oil refineries.

Russian artificial intelligence and tech company Yandex announced that its Sasovo data hub, one of its five large data centers, was attacked and caught fire.

Foreign media reported that this is the first time a Russian data hub has been targeted.

Ukraine stated that it attacked a large oil refinery complex in the city of Salavat, located about 1,200 kilometers east of Moscow, on the same day.
