Taiwan's TSMC, the world's largest contract chipmaker, posted record-high third-quarter revenue, driven by surging demand for artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors.

According to Reuters and Taiwan's Central News Agency, TSMC's third-quarter revenue reached NT$1.494243 trillion (approx. 62.87 trillion won), representing an increase of about 50% compared to the same period last year.

This figure exceeded the market consensus of NT$1.46 trillion compiled by research firms.

TSMC announced that its September revenue came to NT$511.857 billion (approx. 21.53 trillion won), up 54.6% from the same month last year.

However, this marked a 0.6% decrease compared to August, which had recorded an all-time high.

Cumulative revenue from January to September this year rose 41.1% year-on-year to NT$3.898727 trillion (approx. 164.05 trillion won).

Analysts attribute the revenue growth to soaring demand for AI chips alongside an increase in chip orders ahead of new smartphone releases.

TSMC, which counts major companies like Nvidia and Apple as key clients, is considered a primary beneficiary of the expanding AI semiconductor market.
