A man in his 70s identified as A suffered a fall into a freight elevator shaft on the third floor of a snack manufacturing factory in Namdong-gu, Incheon, at around 4:34 PM today (Oct. 8).

Worker A was transported to a hospital in a state of cardiac arrest.

Police secured a statement from a factory official saying, "It appears that A stepped into the shaft area without realizing that the elevator had descended."

Additionally, police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, noting that safety devices such as anti-fall fences were reportedly absent at the factory.
