An elementary school teacher who was reported on child abuse charges in connection with a case designated by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education as "Education Rights Protection Case No. 1" has received a non-prosecution disposition.

According to the legal community on October 8, the Bucheon Branch of the Incheon Prosecutors' Office issued a non-prosecution disposition for teacher A at Bucheon Ojeong Elementary School, who had been accused of violating the Child Abuse Punishment Act.

Teacher A was found to have faced criminal and civil lawsuits filed by the parents of student B after intervening in a dispute between children.

The parents of student B reportedly even held a picket protest in front of the school.

The police, upon initiating an investigation, forwarded the case to the prosecutors' office with an opinion of no charges.

Under current laws, child abuse cases are forwarded to the prosecutors' office regardless of whether charges are established.

The prosecutors' office determined that there were no charges of child abuse against teacher A and issued the non-prosecution disposition in accordance with the police opinion.

Previously, the Teachers' Rights Protection Committee recognized the behavior of student B's parents as an infringement on educational activities.

In addition, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education formed a provincial office education rights protection team, designated this case as Case No. 1, and filed a complaint with the police against student B's parents last August.
