SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama "Doctor X: Mafia in White" has raised anticipation for its premiere by releasing a 4-minute highlight reel.
Premiering on Friday, October 9, "Doctor X: Mafia in White" is a refreshing medical noir depicting the journey of Gye Soo-jung (played by Kim Ji-won), also known as "the crazy Gye of the operating room," who breaks down massive absurdities with genius surgical skills that know neither failure nor compromise.
The 4-minute highlight video released on October 7 begins with the extraordinary entrance of mercenary physician Gye Soo-jung, dispatched to Guseo University Hospital. As the top ace working under Jang Hee-sook (played by Lee Jung-eun), the head of a physician staffing agency, Gye Soo-jung throws the hospital into chaos through radical actions—declaring her refusal to participate in patient rounds, department dinners, and ghostwriting research papers, while also pushing a patient arriving with excessive security out of a wheelchair to speed through carrying a critically ill patient instead.
Following this, Gye Soo-jung's god-like surgical skills are revealed. Watching Gye Soo-jung prepare to leave mid-surgery, intern Park Tae-kyung (played by Kim Woo-seok) misunderstands, believing she is abandoning the patient for personal advancement and profit. However, it is soon revealed that Gye Soo-jung had already completed the surgery flawlessly, leaving everyone stunned.
Additionally, actor Jang Seung-jo is set to make a special appearance as Doctor Na Dae-il, forming a new dynamic of conflict with Gye Soo-jung.
In particular, glimpses of Gye Soo-jung's mysterious past were also captured. Along with scenes in a tense war zone, the shocking revelation that "a patient she operated on died after two months" amplified curiosity regarding her hidden backstory.
Toward the end of the video, Hospital Director Boo Seung-kwon (played by Son Hyun-joo) tries to check her, remarking, "You can't go without failing forever." To this, Gye Soo-jung's resolute charisma shines as she firmly states, "Don't worry. Because I never fail," previewing an exhilarating, satisfying catharsis for future viewers.
Drawing attention as SBS's biggest tentpole drama of the second half of the year, "Doctor X: Mafia in White" will premiere on Friday, October 9, at 9:50 p.m.
