"Please deliver a bowl of jajangmyeon."
At around 6:08 PM on the 4th, a phone call came into 112, the emergency police line, from a multi-family housing unit in Sangnok-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi Province.
The caller was a 9-year-old elementary school student.
Explaining how many family members were at home, the child began talking in a way that suggested ordering a bowl of jajangmyeon.
After calming down while continuing to speak with the police, the child soon began to reveal what was happening inside the home.
The child stated, "Dad is trying to hit Mom," informing the police step-by-step of the situation where the parents were arguing in the living room.
A 5-year-old younger sibling was also present in the house at the time.
Receiving the report, the police arrived at the scene in about three minutes, at approximately 6:11 PM.
The police accompanied the child's father, a man in his 40s identified as A, and booked him on charges of special assault and violations of the Child Welfare Act.
Mr. A is accused of assaulting his wife during an argument by hitting her shoulder with an electric fan and pushing her.
The police also applied charges of emotional child abuse, determining that Mr. A's act of assaulting his wife and using abusive language in front of his 9-year-old and 5-year-old children constituted abuse.
To prevent further harm, temporary measures were taken to order Mr. A to move out of the residence and to prohibit him from approaching the victim within 100 meters.
A police official stated, "We are investigating the exact details of the incident based on the victim's statement."
The official added, "It appears the child showed quick wit by pretending to order jajangmyeon so as not to be caught making the emergency report to the police."
