The women's professional volleyball club JungKwanJang, which recently went through an unfortunate incident, announced that it has appointed former Heungkuk Life head coach Kwon Soon-chan as its new head coach.

The JungKwanJang front office stated, "Head Coach Kwon Soon-chan is a leader who draws out growth through customized coaching that considers the characteristics of each individual player," adding, "We determined that he is the right person to take the club to new heights."

Kwon stated, "I will actively communicate with the players to draw out their individual strengths to the maximum," and added, "I will work hard so that the team grows together and improves every match."

Kwon served as a coach for Woori Capital and Korean Air, led the men's team KB Insurance from 2017 for two years, and took the helm of the women's team Heungkuk Life starting in 2022 before stepping down in January 2023 during the season.

Kwon is returning to the professional stage after 3 years and 9 months.

The JungKwanJang club issued an official apology and moved to contain the situation after an unfortunate incident that occurred during a team dinner in January of this year came to light belatedly in July.

Former head coach Ko Hee-jin resigned in August, taking responsibility, and the JungKwanJang club had been searching for a new head coach.
