On the October 5 broadcast of SBS's "Our Ballad Season 2" (hereinafter "Our Ballad 2"), 16-year-old Yeoju-born girl Kim So-yeon, who sings philosophy, captivated the hearts of the "Top-Tier Ears" judges.

Kim So-yeon, who introduced herself as a girl who sings philosophy, drew attention by saying, "Philosophy is actually one's own way of looking at the world. I believe that to make music truly your own, you must have your own philosophy. I came on the show because I wanted to share how I view the world."

In response, Joo Woo-jae expressed admiration for the unique girl from Yeoju, remarking, "At 16, she probably hasn't been graduated from Catch Teenieping for that long."

Regarding how she encountered philosophy, Kim So-yeon explained, "My writing was full of question marks, and I often thought about things like 'what is happiness?' So I figured that to make music my own, I needed to study philosophy, which led me down this path."

Kim So-yeon, who spent a lot of time alone surrounded by nature, shared that music filled those solitary moments.

For her 1st round selection, Kim So-yeon chose Yang Hee-eun's "About That Loneliness of Love." The Top-Tier Ears representatives marveled at the choice, exclaiming, "It fits her, it fits her so well."

Sharing the reason behind her song choice, Kim So-yeon drew attention by saying, "My father passed away last December. I haven't fully processed the loneliness and solitude brought by his absence yet, but listening to this song comforted me and helped me accept his absence. Now, I am filling the emptiness of that absence with the love of my grandparents."

No one could easily speak out after Kim So-yeon's performance. Left with a lingering deep resonance from her stage, Joo Woo-jae said, "I feel like if a video of this song is released, I won't be able to watch it again. It's so hard to process this depth that I think it would be difficult to listen to it on repeat two or three times."

He continued, sharing his impression, "When I saw Jang Pil-soon's concert in my 20s, I experienced music coming not through my ears but straight to my heart, and I got to feel that exact sensation for the first time in about 10 years."

Jung Jae-hyung then marveled, "As soon as I heard the song, I checked So-yeon's age. It was a performance that went beyond shock and felt chilling. I felt like she had moved past a certain pain."

Following this, Jung Seung-hwan caught attention by expressing how overwhelmed he was as a member of the audience, saying, "I even thought, 'Can you even sing a song like this?' She could hold a concert and just finish with this single song. A flood of mixed emotions rushed over me. It ached my heart just to see someone sing like this. I couldn't help but wonder, 'Why is this young girl singing like this?' It didn't feel like the performance of an audition contestant."

Moon Geun-young, who shed tears during Kim So-yeon's performance, shared her sincere feelings: "So-yeon's solitude felt so profound that it made my heart ache. It made me want to hold her and embrace her for feeling such loneliness. I found myself thinking, 'Why does someone at such a young age know this kind of solitude? Why is she experiencing this?' which made me want to hug her." Hearing this, Kim So-yeon shed tears as well.
