First, dozens of dogs were found crammed together in a single house in Suwon, causing great shock.
On September 23, 56 dogs were rescued after being found all at once in a multi-family housing unit in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province.
The space where the dogs were kept was 16 square meters, which is less than 5 pyeong (about 57 square feet).
According to an animal rights group that inspected the scene following a tip from a citizen, dozens of dogs were living in an environment tangled with feces.
It was reported that the owner, surnamed A, explained that they started raising a few dogs a few years ago, and the population rapidly increased due to reproduction.
The animal rights group persuaded the owner and rescued all the dogs at the scene, and the district office filed a complaint against person A for violating the Animal Protection Act.
The rescued dogs are currently being sheltered across various shelters, and some with poor health conditions are reportedly receiving treatment at hospitals.
