People flocked throughout the National Foundation Day holiday to see "Bukang-i," a shark that continues to remain in the artificial waterway of the North Port waterfront park after rescue operations failed. Cumulative visitors have now surpassed 1 million.

Cheers erupt as the shark "Bukang-i" reveals its appearance.

The waterfront park is packed with people hoping to see Bukang-i.

More than 1 million people have visited the park so far to see Bukang-i.

[Bang Su-min / Visitor: We came all the way here from Daegu just to see Bukang-i, so we have high expectations.]

With both the first rescue attempt—which tried to drive it out to the open sea by spraying water at its tail—and the second attempt—which tried to push it out using a net—ending in failure, Bukang-i is expected to stay in the waterway a little longer.

Related authorities, including the Busan Metropolitan Government, have also removed the large nets that had lost their purpose.

Their stance is to monitor the situation for the time being to ensure Bukang-i does not experience stress.

[Kim Ki-dong / Head of Park Planning Team, Parks and Leisure Policy Division, Busan Metropolitan Government: We will continue to monitor Bukang-i's condition with the National Institute of Fisheries Science, and if any unusual signs or similar situations appear, we will have to establish countermeasures.]

The National Institute of Fisheries Science and other organizations plan to announce the results of their investigations into Bukang-i, including its sex, and discuss additional measures.
