At around 1:50 p.m. today (Oct. 5), an accident occurred at an intersection in Noonsa-dong, Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, where a passenger car and a 25-ton truck collided, after which the truck crashed into a nearby restaurant.

Two people, including the truck driver in his 60s and the car driver in his 40s, sustained serious injuries from the accident and are receiving treatment.

Additionally, 13 people, including customers inside the restaurant, suffered minor injuries after being struck by flying glass shards shattered by the impact of the truck or hit by displaced fixtures.

None of the injured are reportedly in life-threatening condition.

Police believe the accident began when the passenger car, attempting to make a left turn on a green straight signal, collided in the middle of the intersection with the truck traveling straight from the opposite direction.

Investigators found that following the initial collision, the truck skidded to the right and struck an outer pillar of the restaurant.

There were no other passengers in the vehicles, and it was confirmed that neither driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police plan to investigate the exact cause of the accident, including whether the passenger car violated traffic signals, based on dashcam footage.
