A man in his 20s has been arrested by police on charges of murdering a man he did not know in a residential area in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul.
Seoul Gangbuk Police Station announced that it urgently arrested the man in his 20s, identified as A, on charges of murder at around 1:00 a.m. today (October 5).
A is suspected of killing a man in his 70s, identified as B, in a residential area in Beon-dong, Gangbuk-gu, at around 11:00 p.m. on October 3.
After receiving a report that B could not be reached, police tracked his whereabouts and discovered the deceased B at around 7:00 p.m. the previous day.
Police identified A as a suspect by analyzing closed-circuit (CC) television footage around the scene.
So far, it has been determined that A and the victim did not know each other.
It was confirmed that during police questioning, A claimed he committed the murder on impulse following an argument that broke out after their shoulders bumped on the street.
Police plan to apply for an arrest warrant for A after investigating the exact details of the incident, including the motive for the crime.
