People Power Party Leader Jang Dong-hyeok is visiting the birthplace of the late First Lady Yuk Young-soo today, continuing his party's offensive over alleged historical distortion against the film 'The Assassin(s),' which deals with the fatal shooting of Yuk.

Leader Jang is scheduled to visit Yuk's birthplace in Okcheon County, North Chungcheong Province, this afternoon to lay flowers, inspect the site, and hold an emergency press conference.

National Assembly Vice Speaker Park Duk-hyum, whose constituency covers Okcheon, will accompany him.

Referring to a letter by former President Park Chung-hee made public through Representative Yoo Young-ha of his party, Jang wrote on Facebook on October 2, "Line by line, it is deeply filled with love and longing for First Lady Yuk," adding, "It has already gone beyond what can be dismissed as 'cinematic imagination.' They should halt screenings of the film on their own and apologize to the public."

Jang previously visited Yuk's birthplace in May ahead of the June 3 local elections.

Meanwhile, the People Power Party plans to send a letter signed by all of its affiliated lawmakers to the Singapore International Film Festival, calling for the withdrawal of 'The Assassin(s)' as the festival's opening film.
