Man in his 50s arrested at the scene after attacking a woman in her 20s with a stone

A man in his 50s has been apprehended by police after striking a woman in her 20s on the head with a stone while she was walking down the street late at night.

The Yongin Dongbu Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced that it has arrested and is currently investigating a man identified as A on charges of special assault.

A is accused of striking a woman in her 20s, identified as B, on the back of the head with a stone, causing injuries, on a street in Yeokbuk-dong, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, at around 1:20 a.m. today.

It was confirmed that the two had no prior acquaintance with each other.

Investigations revealed that A followed B, who was on her way home after finishing a part-time job, and suddenly committed the crime.

B sustained bruises to her head and is currently receiving treatment.

Citizens who heard B's screams reported the incident to the police and subdued A, who was then arrested at the scene by responding officers.

A reportedly stated during police questioning, "I was drunk and do not remember."

Police plan to analyze nearby CCTV footage to investigate the specific details of the crime while also considering the severity of the case in deciding whether to apply for an arrest warrant for A.
