▲ People Power Party's 'National Action Rally to Judge the Lee Jae-myung Administration, Restore Livelihoods, and Defend National Security'
Regarding the People Power Party holding a large-scale rally around Sungnyemun in Seoul on National Foundation Day today (October 3) to "denounce the misrule of the Lee Jae-myung administration," the Democratic Party criticized, "With the parliamentary audit right around the corner, one cannot help but ask whether the main opposition party taking to the streets is truly for the people."
Floor Spokesperson Jeon Eun-soo said in a written briefing on the day, "It is a show of force for People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok."
She pointed out, "The People Power Party issued a general mobilization order for this rally," adding, "It is reported that they even required reports on attendance and total participant headcounts. A rally that assigns quotas and checks attendance cannot be said to represent the voice of the people."
She continued, "The People Power Party held the exact same rally a year ago," criticizing, "Today, too, the entire party has taken to the streets, abandoning the parliamentary audit, just to protect a single person: the party leader."
She further noted, "The People Power Party, which has not changed a bit even after a year, is a party without reflection or introspection," adding, "It is an anti-livelihood party where internal party power matters more than the public."
Floor Spokesperson Jeon said, "If people's livelihoods and the economy are in difficulty and national security is grave, do your work in the National Assembly," stressing, "Thoroughly scrutinizing the government through the parliamentary audit and presenting specific, practical measures for the public's livelihood is the responsibility of the main opposition party."
Spokesperson Shin Hyun-young also pointed out in a briefing, "The intention behind the People Power Party's street rally, which seemed out of nowhere, has been exposed," adding, "At a rally pushed through despite criticism during the regular session of the National Assembly—a period when all efforts should be devoted to preparing for the parliamentary audit—what poured out was praise for leader Jang Dong-hyeok."
Spokesperson Shin criticized, "They incited hardline supporters with extreme language and hate speech to prolong the crumbling Jang Dong-hyeok leadership," adding, "The rally was filled with extreme slogans such as 'Lee Jae-myung, step down' and 'We will drag Lee Jae-myung out of the Blue House.'"
