Kim Yu-jin (Ulsan City Council), a taekwondo gold medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics, saw her bid for a gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games fall short following a shocking elimination in the quarterfinals.
Competing in the women's 57kg taekwondo kyorugi quarterfinals at the Toyohashi General Gymnasium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, today (the 3rd), Kim lost 2-0 in round scores to Zhang Chuling of China, failing to advance to the semifinals.
Kim, who easily defeated Kashish Malik (India) 2-0 in the round of 16 earlier, stumbled in her second match and missed out on a medal.
Having won a bronze medal at the 2023 Hangzhou Games, Kim sought a gold medal in her second Asian Games, but failed to achieve her goal amid an upset.
