A former executive at a standard workplace for persons with disabilities, who is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s with an intellectual disability, has admitted to the charges during his first trial.
During the first hearing held today (the 2nd) by Criminal Division 14 of the Incheon District Court (Presiding Judge Son Seung-beom), the legal counsel for a man in his 60s, identified as A and indicted and detained on charges of quasi-rape of a person with disabilities under the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes, stated, "We admit to all the charges in the indictment."
When the presiding judge asked, "Is it true that the defendant has confessed to the crime?" A briefly answered, "Yes."
A is accused of sexually assaulting B, a woman in her 20s with an intellectual disability, five times from the summer of last year until June 9 of this year at his residence, his ex-wife's residence, and inside a vehicle.
Investigations revealed that B was assaulted while working from October 2024 at a laundry business, which is a standard workplace for persons with disabilities where A served as an executive.
Although both have now resigned, A's son remains in office as the head of the company.
It was found that B gave birth to a child after reporting the sexual assault, but her health condition is poor as she has a Grade 2 intellectual disability with an cognitive ability equivalent to a 7-year-old, alongside a rare disease.
Due to this, her father is currently caring for both his daughter and the child.
In front of the courtroom today, B's father appealed, "My daughter has been diagnosed with a rare disease that gradually deteriorates her body and muscles, making it difficult for her to even move."
Following the emergence of the case, B's father also claimed during a press conference held alongside disability advocacy groups that A attempted to force his daughter to undergo an abortion and threatened her to conceal the crime.
