Following Shinhan Bank, an incident has occurred at KB Kookmin Bank where customer information was leaked due to a hacking attack.

According to financial authorities and the financial sector today (the 2nd), KB Kookmin Bank recently confirmed that the information of about 100 customers was leaked due to an external intrusion.

Immediately after recognizing the possibility that information was leaked through abnormal external access, the bank blocked the affected server and access route.

The system where the customer information was leaked is an employee-use mobile work support system.

The bank explained that the breach is unrelated to customer financial transactions, such as internet banking and mobile banking.

The Financial Services Commission and the Financial Supervisory Service received a report of the incident from KB Kookmin Bank and are discussing response measures.

Previously, Shinhan Bank announced yesterday that customer information for approximately 25,000 individuals was leaked due to a novel hacking method utilizing an artificial intelligence agent.

As a result, South Korea's two major commercial banks, KB Kookmin Bank and Shinhan Bank, have been consecutively exposed to hacking risks.

Authorities are conducting on-site inspections, keeping the possibility of further damage spread in mind.
