Lawmaker Yoo Young-ha of the People Power Party criticized the film 'The Assassin(s)', which has recently been at the center of controversy over historical distortion, and disclosed a handwritten letter penned by former President Park Chung-hee two days after the passing of First Lady Yuk Young-soo.

Holding a press conference at the National Assembly's press center on the morning of October 2, Yoo said, "I believe this film intentionally blurs the line between fact and fiction, defaming the honor of the late President Park Chung-hee and inflicting indelible insults and unhealable wounds upon the surviving family members."

He then revealed the handwritten letter that former President Park Chung-hee wrote to former President Park Geun-hye on August 17, 1974.

Yoo elaborated, "The late President Park Chung-hee wrote down his feelings at the time and sent it to former President Park Geun-hye, who was returning home from France after hearing the tragic news."

The letter contains passages such as, "Your mother took the deadly bullet meant for your father and passed away," "I think to myself over and over how good it would have been if only I had been shot and your mother had lived," and "The thought of your father greeting you alone at the front door makes everything seem so bleak."

Yoo also urged director Hur Jin-ho and the production team to take responsibility, including halting the screening of the movie 'The Assassin(s)'.

When asked by reporters after the press conference whether he was considering legal action, Yoo replied, "We are exploring all legally possible measures."
