Los Angeles FC (LAFC) of Major League Soccer (MLS), the club of South Korean national football team forward Son Heung-min, has chosen its interim head coach to lead the team for the remainder of the season.

LAFC announced today (October 2, KST) the appointment of Xavi Tamarit (44) as interim manager.

Currently sitting in sixth place in the Western Conference with 11 wins, 8 draws, and 9 losses (41 points) this season, LAFC parted ways with manager Marc Dos Santos on September 28 and has been searching for a new leader.

According to the club, the Spanish-born Tamarit has built over 20 years of elite coaching experience in the English Premier League, Spain's La Liga, and the Argentine Primera División, and joined LAFC's coaching staff in January of this year.

Tamarit holds professional licenses from both the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), and is known to be fluent in English and Portuguese in addition to Spanish.

LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington stated, "Xavi has a clear understanding of our players' strengths and what the team needs right now. We have complete confidence in him and the coaching staff to bring out the best in the group.

Our standards and goals remain unchanged, and we will pour everything into finishing the 2026 season strongly."
