The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today (October 1) that it reviewed the local situation in Ukraine and safety measures for South Korean nationals.

The ministry held a joint headquarters-embassy situation review meeting today with the South Korean Embassy in Ukraine, presided over by Jo Joo-sung, Director-General for Overseas Safety Planning.

Recently, large-scale missile and drone strikes targeting civilian and energy facilities have continued across Ukraine, causing damage even in the center of the capital, Kyiv, where foreign diplomatic missions are located.

Director-General Jo called for frequently checking the safety of South Korean citizens, disseminating safety advisories in a timely manner, and continuously reviewing emergency contact networks and evacuation plans.

Park Ki-chang, the South Korean Ambassador to Ukraine, said that the embassy will communicate closely with headquarters, proactively take necessary measures to protect overseas citizens as the situation evolves, and make every effort to safeguard diplomatic mission staff.
