The Cheongju Sangdang Police Station announced today (October 1) that it has arrested a teenager, referred to as A, on charges of stabbing a woman on her way home and attempting to sexually assault her.
A is suspected of stabbing a woman in her 20s, referred to as B, whom he did not know, with a weapon on a street in Seowon-gu, Cheongju, at around 11:30 PM on September 27, and then attempting to sexually assault her.
After B resisted, A fled the scene on a motorcycle, but was apprehended by the police at a nearby convenience store about three hours later.
B was transported to a hospital for treatment and is reportedly not in life-threatening condition.
During police questioning, A reportedly admitted to wielding the weapon due to stress, but stated that he had no intention of committing sexual assault.
