There are substantial discount benefits offered through Onnuri gift certificates, which were introduced to revitalize traditional markets.

However, reports indicate they are being used contrary to their intended purpose, such as for purchasing Mounjaro.

In the first half of this year, the top location for the most Onnuri gift certificate transactions was a pharmacy in Seoul, recording 26 billion won.

And the second place was a clinic in Seoul.

It is reported that 10.2 billion won was used there.

These 1st and 2nd place pharmacies and clinics are located about a 5-minute walk apart.

These places are known as hotspots where people can purchase the obesity treatment Mounjaro at a relatively low price.

In other words, one could interpret that consumers using, or trying to use, Onnuri gift certificates have flocked there.

As the use of Onnuri gift certificates concentrates on large pharmacies and other such places, the government is considering plans to focus benefits primarily on traditional markets and local neighborhood commercial districts starting next year.

Additionally, with the change in the support method, the issuance scale of Onnuri gift certificates for next year is expected to be reduced compared to this year.
