Senior officials in Yeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, are drawing significant attention for filming an unconventional promotional video where they personally perform a group dance to promote local festivals.

The video begins with a man wearing a white shirt and a necktie appearing and taking a bite out of a root of Punggi ginseng.

As this man takes the center position on a flight of stairs, about 60 people dressed in matching black outfits move their bodies in unison with deadpan expressions to the music, while a hand-held placard reading "Come to Punggi if you lack energy" appears in the very back row.

The man occupying the center of the video is Um Tae-hyun, Vice Mayor of Yeongju, and those performing the group dance are senior municipal officials of Grade 5 or higher from the Yeongju City Hall.

According to Yeongju City on September 30, a 50-second video produced by the city to promote the Punggi Ginseng Festival and the Museom Village Single-Log Bridge Festival is rapidly spreading across social media services (SNS).

The video was produced in a style reminiscent of the mass group choreography from "STORM II" by French music project GENER8ION and Swedish rapper Yung Lean.

The video came to fruition after senior officials accepted an idea proposed by a Grade 6 employee in the Yeongju City Public Relations Office, and it was reportedly filmed in just 20 minutes after participants were informed of the shooting immediately following a executive meeting.

Kim Han-deuk, head of Punggi-eup, shared the situation at the time, saying, "The executive meeting had just ended when we were suddenly told to go out and film, so we were called out and shot it. There was no prior practice at all."

They wore matching black work uniforms typically worn during wildfire emergency duty, meaning no separate costumes had to be prepared.

Netizens have been praising the video, noting that unlike typical institutional promotional videos, senior executives stepped up themselves, which spared younger staff from pressure and made for a pleasant sight.

Meanwhile, Yeongju City plans to hold the Punggi Ginseng Festival for nine days starting October 3, and the Museom Village Single-Log Bridge Festival, which opens on the same day, for a two-day run from October 3 to 4.
