The South Korean men's compound archery team has failed to win a medal in the Asian Games team event for the first time.

South Korea, represented by Choi Yong-hee, Kim Jong-ho (both from Hyundai Steel), and Choi Eun-kyu (Ulsan Nam-gu Office), lost to Taiwan 233-234 in the bronze medal match of the compound men's team event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Multipurpose Ground in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on September 30.

As a result, South Korea finished its men's team schedule in fourth place.

South Korea previously won the silver medal at the 2014 Incheon Games, where compound archery was first introduced, and the gold medal at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.

At the 2022 Hangzhou Games, held in 2023, the team captured the silver medal.

South Korea fell behind 58-59 in the first end of the bronze medal match and trailed 115-118 after scoring only 57 points in the second end.

In the third end, the team shot 59 points to close in on Taiwan, which scored 57 points, narrowing the gap to 1.1 point at 174-175.

In the final fourth end, South Korea added 59 points by hitting ten in five out of six arrows, but Taiwan also recorded 59 points, failing to overturn the deficit in the end.

Choi Yong-hee and Kim Jong-ho will challenge for medals once again in the men's individual quarterfinals on October 1.
