The National Intelligence Service (NIS) reported to the National Assembly on the health conditions of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and his daughter Ju-ae, stating that "the standing of Chairman Kim's daughter Ju-ae as heir apparent is being solidified."

The NIS delivered this assessment during a closed-door plenary meeting of the Intelligence Committee at the National Assembly today (September 30), according to Representative Youn Kun-young of the Democratic Party of Korea and Representative Yoo Young-ha of the People Power Party, who serve as the committee's ranking members.

Regarding the status of daughter Ju-ae as the designated successor, the NIS analyzed that "her standing as heir apparent is being reinforced, as seen when she was positioned at the very center during a visit to the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun on January 1, and made her first appearances at the 'Victory Day' event and at a ceremony paying tribute to revolutionary martyrs on National Liberation Day."

The agency added, "While Kim Ju-ae had previously focused on military-related sectors, she has recently expanded into areas such as public livelihood, politics, and diplomacy, making 30 public appearances this year—the highest frequency to date."

The NIS also reported to parliament for the first time its own intelligence regarding her physical profile, assessing that Ju-ae is about 160 centimeters tall and weighs more than 50 kilograms.

The NIS explained to the National Assembly, "Kim Ju-ae is building a mature image by wearing women's suits and dress shoes," adding, "Intelligence has been gathered indicating that overseas diplomatic missions were ordered to maintain strict silence, and officials dealing directly with the United States are moving very busily."

Regarding Chairman Kim Jong-un's health, the NIS reported that "while he is severely obese, with his weight in the 140-kilogram range, there are no signs of health problems."

The NIS explained to parliament, "Although Kim is in a high-risk group for cardiovascular disease, he was seen performing movements without difficulty, such as running up stairs during an inspection of a destroyer, and he is closely monitored by a dedicated medical team, leading to the assessment that there are no signs of health abnormalities."

Regarding Chairman Kim's public activities this year, the NIS analyzed, "He made a total of 121 public appearances, an increase of 30 percent compared to the same period last year," noting that "amid recent moves seeking North Korea-U.S. dialogue, he is refraining from provocative activities, such as weapons testing and observing military drills."
