Police have launched an investigation after a large truck struck a container inspector at the Incheon New Port terminal.

At around 3:30 p.m. yesterday (September 29), a large truck driven by a man in his 60s, surnamed A, struck a container inspector in his 30s, surnamed B, at the Incheon New Port container terminal in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon.

Immediately following the accident, B sustained severe injuries and was transported to a hospital, where he is reportedly currently unconscious.

Footage of the accident at the time, acquired by SBS, shows the truck loaded with containers pulling away while B, who had finished an inspection, had his back turned, and then striking B as it turned its direction.

It was learned that A stated during police questioning, "I failed to see B."

Police stated that there are no circumstances indicating driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Police plan to book A on charges including violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Settlement of Traffic Accidents (causing bodily injury) and investigate the exact circumstances of the accident.
