Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung, who also heads the Korea Archery Association, emphasized that the association has much more work to do to advance South Korea's compound archery discipline.

Chung served as a presenter today (September 30) for the compound archery mixed team medal ceremony at the multi-purpose plaza of the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, during the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Chung said, "Captain Park Jung-yoon, Captain Yonghee, and all the athletes fought extremely well. India is a powerhouse in the compound discipline worldwide." He added, "We are working hard to catch up, but it made me realize that we need to train smarter and in better ways. I felt that the association has much more work to do moving forward."

He also added, "Whether it is a gold, silver, or bronze medal, just competing in the Asian Games is a tremendous honor and something that will benefit their futures, so I will continue to cheer them on."

On this day, as Chung watched the matches, South Korea won a silver medal in the mixed team event and a bronze medal in the women's team event, respectively.

The mixed team pairing Park Jung-yoon (Changwon City Hall) and Choi Yong-hee (Hyundai Steel) tied with India at 157-157 before losing 19-20 in a shoot-off. Meanwhile, the women's team consisting of Kang Yeon-seo (Seongsa Middle School), Park Jung-yoon, and YERIN (Korea National Sport University) defeated Chinese Taipei 229-228 in the bronze medal match.

The previous day, Chung boosted the morale of the compound delegation by having lunch with them, sharing grilled eel over rice.

Hyundai Motor Group and the Korea Archery Association have been supporting the athletes through dedicated accommodations, lounge spaces, and customized meal plans.

Chung also sent words of encouragement to the recurve athletes, who will compete for medals in the men's and women's team events and mixed team event on October 2, followed by the men's and women's individual events on October 3.

"I saw them at lunch today, and their conditions all look good," Chung said. "I think if they just fight well against themselves and overcome that, things will go well."
