South Korean compound archery has won its third consecutive silver medal in the mixed team final at the Asian Games after losing a tight match in a shoot-off.

Paired together, Park Jeong-yoon (Changwon City Hall) and Choi Yong-hee (Hyundai Steel) tied with India 157-157 in the compound archery mixed team final of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games at the multi-purpose ground of Okazaki Central Park in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on the 30th, before losing 19-20 in the shoot-off.

Although South Korea reached the final for the third straight tournament, it unfortunately fell short of claiming its first gold medal.

India, the champion of the previous tournament, achieved consecutive titles.

South Korea fell behind 39-40 in the first end, and the gap widened to 78-80 after India shot a perfect 40 in the second end.

Adding 39 points in the third end to close the gap to 117-118, South Korea hit all four arrows into the 10-ring in the final fourth end to tie the score at 157-157.

The match was decided in a shoot-off where each of the two archers shot one arrow.

With Park Jeong-yoon scoring a 10 and Choi Yong-hee scoring a 9, South Korea lost 19-20 to India, whose archers both landed their arrows in the 10-ring.

The compound mixed event was first introduced as an official Asian Games medal event at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games.

At that time, Kim Jong-ho and So Chae-won lost to Chinese Taipei 150-151 in the final, while Joo Jae-hun and So Chae-won were defeated by India 158-159 at the 2022 Hangzhou Games held in 2023.

Later in the day, Choi Yong-hee will compete for a medal in the men's team event at the same venue.

Earlier, Park Jeong-yoon secured a bronze medal in the women's team event.
