Police have launched an investigation after a newborn baby was found dead in a flower bed at an apartment complex in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province.

According to the Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency and other sources, they received a report at around 9:28 a.m. today (September 30) stating that a bag containing a newborn had been discovered in a flower bed near the management office of an apartment complex in Ansan-dong, Yeosu.

At the time of discovery, the newborn was already dead with its umbilical cord still attached, and signs of decomposition were reportedly underway.

Police are currently tracking down the parents, who are suspected of abandoning the baby, by identifying them.
