The movie "The Assassin(s)," which has been embroiled in controversy over historical distortion, has been confirmed to be the target of suspected rating terror. Portal site Naver announced through an official notice on September 29 regarding "measures taken against the duplicate reflection of movie reviews and sympathy counts."

Naver stated, "Recently, there were instances where some reviews were registered in duplicate or the counts for sympathy and antipathy were tallied redundantly. Upon confirming the issue, we immediately implemented emergency measures and have now improved the system so that such issues do not occur."

The company added, "We plan to delete the redundantly registered reviews for the affected movies, and normal rates will be reflected by excluding the redundantly tallied sympathy and antipathy numbers. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused while using the service, and we will pay closer attention to prevent the same issue from happening again."

Previously on Naver, more than 50,000 1-star ratings for "The Assassin(s)" accumulated within just a few days. The comment that received the most sympathy recorded over 1.37 million sympathy votes, raising suspicions of macro usage.

Following the movie's release, the controversy has also led to attacks against the actors. On September 30, as a netizen posted a list of works starring actor Yoo Hai-jin on social media and online communities with the intent that he frequently appeared in "North Korea-related subjects," "anti-Japan films," and "films criticizing military regimes," People Power Party lawmaker Joo Jin-woo directly left a comment on the post saying "North Korean look." In addition, some netizens pressured the actors' advertising companies by posting content showing that they left protests regarding Yoo Hai-jin's movie appearances with a food company where he is active as an advertising model.

Released on September 23, "The Assassin(s)" depicts the story of tracking the suspicions and masterminds behind the assassination of the First Lady that occurred on August 15, 1974, and has been criticized for distorting history. It is recording a cumulative audience of approximately 1.7 million as of September 29.
