As the film "The Assassin(s)" becomes embroiled in a historical distortion controversy, the backlash is even spreading to lead actor Yoo Hai-jin.

Critical comments targeting his film appearance flooded a Burger King advertisement featuring Yoo Hai-jin as a model, leading the brand to disable the video's comment section.

As of today (September 30), the advertisement video featuring Yoo Hai-jin on Burger King's official YouTube channel displays a notice reading, "Comments are turned off."

Released on September 16, the video promotes Burger King's autumn seasonal menu, the "Truffle Mushroom Whopper." To mark the new menu launch, Burger King selected Yoo Hai-jin as its model and broadcasted commercials utilizing a "New-haejin" concept, combining his name with the word "NEW."

However, as the controversy surrounding historical distortion in the film "The Assassin(s)," starring Yoo Hai-jin, recently escalated, some users left critical comments expressing disappointment, which appears to have led to the suspension of comments on the ad.

As the fallout continues to spread, film critic Lee Dong-jin's review video has also been switched to private.

The YouTube channel "B tv Lee Dong-jin's Piakia" stated, "As debates surrounding the film persist, we have switched the review video uploaded on September 25 to private."

It is unusual for a video on this channel to be switched to private.

Lee Dong-jin previously gave "The Assassin(s)" 3 out of 5 stars, praising it by saying, "A perspective that densely delves into the flow and gaps of the events."

In particular, criticism poured in through the comment section regarding specific remarks made in the review about the film's content, such as, "It cannot be simply dismissed as a conspiracy theory."

"The Assassin(s)" is a mystery film that tracks the suspicions and figures behind the assassination of First Lady Yuk Young-su, which took place on August 15, 1974.

Directed by Hur Jin-ho, the film stars actors including Yoo Hai-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Minho.

Despite the production team's explanation that "imagination was added to reconstruct the events," the controversy has not subsided, triggering a continuing backlash of malicious comments directed not only at the lead actors but also at actors who attended the press preview and left favorable reviews.
