The production company behind the movie "Assassins," which has been embroiled in controversy over historical distortion, has denied allegations that Chinese capital was injected into its production process.

In addition, malicious comments have been pouring onto the social media accounts of celebrities who previously praised the film.

Earlier, People Power Party lawmaker Joo Jin-woo claimed on a YouTube broadcast that reports indicated a Chinese company was investing 40 billion won into the production company of "Assassins." He argued that even if it is disguised as investment, the possibility of covert manipulation by China should also be kept in mind.

In response, the production company Hive Media Corp emphasized that the work was planned and produced with domestic capital under the leadership of local production crews and creators, expressing hope that information differing from the facts will not be exaggerated and reproduced.

This controversy has also spread to celebrities.

Malicious comments flooded the social media accounts of actors such as Lee Young-ae and Kim Go-eun, who left recommendations after attending the VIP premiere of "Assassins." Sharp comments also continued on the social media account of actor Lee Min-ho, who played the rookie reporter Young-il in the film.
