A man attempts to pry open an ATM with a metal bar.

Another man mercilessly strikes the ATM with a large hammer.

This footage was captured at a gas station in Chicago, USA.

Masked men entered the convenience store inside the gas station and tried to extract cash by smashing the ATM for about three minutes.

However, the ATM did not budge, and as police were dispatched, the gang gave up the crime and fled.

They failed to take a single cent, leaving only the hammer used in the crime behind, and police are tracking down the suspects based on CCTV footage and other evidence.
