A fire broke out at an officetel in Jeju yesterday evening, prompting about 30 residents to evacuate. In Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, a taekwondo academy van carrying children overturned, resulting in the driver's death.

At around 6:20 p.m. yesterday, a fire broke out on the top floor of a 10-story officetel located in Seogwipo, Jeju.

A woman in her 30s living in the apartment where the fire started inhaled smoke and received treatment, while about 30 residents evacuated.

A taekwondo academy van with a dented front bumper lies overturned on the side of the road.

At around 5:30 p.m. yesterday, a taekwondo academy van carrying three students, including elementary schoolers, tipped over onto its side on a road in Jipyeong-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province.

Emergency services arrived immediately, but the driver, a man in his 60s, was in cardiac arrest. He was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.

The three students on board sustained minor scratches and are not in life-threatening condition.

Police are investigating the exact cause of the accident, suspecting that the driver may have had a pre-existing medical condition.

At around 1:50 a.m. today, a fire broke out on the first floor of a 4-story multi-family housing building in Seojeong-dong, Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province.

The fire completely gutted the first-floor home and was extinguished in 25 minutes. Thirteen residents were rescued by firefighters or evacuated on their own, resulting in no casualties.
