The South Korean national track and field team concluded its campaign at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games with three bronze medals, failing to add to its tally on the final day of competition on the 29th.

Kim Taehee, a bronze medalist at the 2022 Hangzhou Games from the Iksan City Hall, finished 9th among 10 athletes with a throw of 61.48 meters in the women's hammer throw final held at the Mizuho Park Athletics Stadium in Nagoya, Japan.

Lee Yura, competing in the same event, placed last with 57.19 meters.

Park Jaewoo finished 10th in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 14 minutes and 9.69 seconds.

China's Zhang Jiale won the event by setting a new Asian record of 78.27 meters.

In the men's 1,600-meter relay, featuring Jang Minho (Anyang City Hall), Shin Mingyu (Seoul City Hall), Bae Geonyul (Anyang City Hall), and Seo Minjun (Seocheon County Office), the team crossed the finish line 6th out of 8 competing teams with a time of 3 minutes, 6 seconds, and 59 hundredths.

During this tournament, South Korea's track and field team secured three bronze medals through Choi Byeong-kwang in the men's half marathon race walk, Woo Sang-hyeok in the high jump, and the men's 400-meter relay.

This marks virtually the first time in history that South Korean track and field failed to win even a single silver medal at an Asian Games.

The South Korean delegation did not participate in the inaugural 1951 New Delhi Games, and political issues led to a boycott of certain sports, including track and field, at the 1962 Jakarta Games.

Except for those two editions, South Korea had earned at least one silver medal at every Asian Games it competed in.

Prior to this, the lowest-performing tournament was the 1978 Bangkok Games, where the team won one silver and one bronze medal.
