Ukraine and Russia have recently been concentrating their attacks on each other's energy facilities.

Reporting from Paris, here is correspondent Kwon Yeongin with the latest on the Russia-Ukraine war.

A three-story building hit by a bombardment is engulfed in red flames.

A middle-aged man stands precariously against the wall of the building to escape the thick, billowing black smoke.

Although the flames grew larger, the man successfully escaped by climbing up a ladder raised by rescue workers.

Local time yesterday afternoon, September 28, Russia launched drone and missile attacks on major Ukrainian cities, including the capital, Kyiv.

A total of four people died in Kyiv alone, including one person killed and three others injured at the National Academy of Sciences where the middle-aged man was located.

Additionally, Ukrainian authorities stated that a business center housing companies in the southern Dnipro region was attacked, killing three people, bringing the total death toll to at least 7 and leaving 50 injured in a single day yesterday.

Russia has been intensively targeting Ukraine's fuel facilities, with some 300 locations attacked over the past six months.

Recently, Russia has been deploying jet-propelled drones, which are up to three times faster than conventional drones.

Equipped with small Chinese-made aircraft engines, the number of jet-propelled drones surged significantly from around 300 in June to 2,800 in August.

Due to their high speed reaching 600 kilometers per hour, their interception rate stands at only 60 percent.

This is a sharp drop compared to the 90 percent interception rate of conventional drones, leading to a corresponding surge in damage.

Despite U.S. mediation for an energy truce, attacks on energy infrastructure by both sides continue as winter approaches, with Ukraine also striking oil facilities in Russia's Krasnodar region.
