The closing hearing in the appellate trial of former President Yoon Suk Yeol, who was handed a sentence invalidating his election in the first trial on charges of publishing false information during the 20th presidential election, will be held this morning (September 29) at the Seoul High Court.

The former president was put on trial on charges including making statements to the effect that he never met Jeon Seong-bae, known as "Geonjin Beopsa," together with his wife Kim Keonhee.

If the sentence is upheld, the People Power Party will have to return 39.7 billion won in election expenses reimbursed during the presidential campaign.
