It has been reported that Iran attacked a U.S. Navy vessel operating in the Strait of Hormuz with a cruise missile two weeks ago, leaving eight U.S. Marines injured.

Citing three officials, NBC News reported on the 28th local time that one U.S. Marine officer and seven enlisted personnel were injured in the Iranian missile attack on the 14th.

The service members, belonging to a battalion landing team, were reportedly withdrawn from operations and returned immediately after being targeted by the Iranian attack.

Officials explained that while their injuries are not severe, symptoms such as headaches and concussions suggest the possibility of traumatic brain injury caused by smoke inhalation.

According to the officials, the injured Marines were not on board the naval ship at the time of the Iranian attack, and the specific circumstances of their injuries have not been disclosed.

NBC reported that officials declined to specify the type of naval vessel attacked, referring to it only as a maritime watercraft.

To date, the U.S. Department of Defense has not released any information regarding the Iranian missile attack on the 14th, and a spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command declined to comment, according to NBC.
