A man in his 50s who worked as a driver has been arrested shortly after allegedly stabbing and killing a woman in her 70s at a villa in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province. Police investigations revealed that the man, who had worked as a driver for over 10 years, committed the crime out of resentment after facing the threat of dismissal compounded by having to work through the holiday.

The suspect in his 50s, identified as A, was arrested for allegedly wielding a weapon and killing a woman in her 70s at a villa in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, on the morning of the 26th.

The court explained the reason for issuing the arrest warrant, stating that there is a concern he may flee.

It was found that A had worked as a driver for the victimized couple for more than 10 years, and committed the crime after coming to pick up the couple who were visiting the villa for the Chuseok holiday.

Hearing the victim's screams from the first floor at the time, her husband came down from the second floor and reported the incident to the police. A was arrested at the scene the day before yesterday on charges of attempted murder.

[Witness: It seemed like about five or six police cars and forensic investigation vehicles were going up.]

As the woman passed away yesterday while receiving hospital treatment, the police upgraded the charges to murder.

During police questioning, A reportedly stated that he harbored resentment because he was being given work without any consideration for his difficult circumstances.

It is known that he was facing the risk of dismissal due to matters unrelated to the victimized couple, and upon being forced to work throughout the Chuseok holiday, he brought a weapon from his residence in advance.

Having secured A into custody, the police plan to uncover the specific details and motives of the crime through smartphone forensics and additional investigations.
