At around 5:50 a.m. on September 24, the first day of the Chuseok holiday, a phone call came in to the 112 emergency operations room of the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency.

Only a sharp scream from a woman was briefly heard over the receiver, and the call was immediately disconnected.

Suspecting the possibility of a violent crime, the operations dispatcher issued Code Zero, the highest level of emergency response.

The police then tracked the caller's location and called the disconnected number back.

A man answered the phone.

He claimed that it was merely a verbal argument.

However, finding this suspicious, the police urgently dispatched patrol cars from the local police station to a residence in Gunpo, the location tracked through the phone.

According to police investigations, the suspect had brought a woman he met at a bar to his home and attempted to commit a sexual crime against her.

The dispatched police officers rescued the woman and booked the man as a suspect for sexual assault.

The police stated, "We prevented a violent crime in advance through the quick judgment of the 112 dispatcher and the active measures of the responding police officers."

In addition, the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency implemented a comprehensive Chuseok holiday security plan from September 17 to 27, deploying a total of about 42,600 personnel to apprehend 589 robbery and theft suspects and 1,430 violence suspects.
