Bong Seo-rin wrapped up her first-ever individual final at the Asian Games in eighth place in the women's 25m pistol individual final.

Bong (Gwangju Sports Council) scored a total of 11 points out of 20 shots to finish in eighth place in the final of the women's 25m pistol event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, held at the Aichi Prefecture Comprehensive Shooting Range in Japan on the 28th.

China's Xiaojiaruixuan claimed the gold medal after a shoot-off following a tie of 38 points with India's Esha Singh.

North Korea's Kim Hyun-sook (34 points) also took home the bronze medal after losing to Singh in a shoot-off.

Bong advanced to the final in seventh place overall after scoring a combined 581 points (14 inner tens), consisting of 289 in precision and 292 in rapid fire during the qualification round.

She earned 3 points in the first five shots of the final and added 2 points in each of the next two series.

Although she picked up 4 points in the fourth series, she finished at the bottom with a total of 11 points out of 20 shots and was the first to be eliminated.

The final proceeds in a knockout format where the lowest-ranking shooter is eliminated one by one starting after the fourth series.

Bong, who began shooting in 2007, stood on the Asian Games stage for the first time this year.

Though she missed out on an individual medal at her first Asian Games, she previously led the team to a silver medal in the team event.

The South Korean women's pistol shooting national team secured the silver medal behind China (1,743 points) by edging out Taiwan (1,734 points)—which won the bronze—by just a 1-point margin with a total of 1,735 points, combining Bong's 581 points, Oh Ye-jin's (IBK Corporate Bank) 579 points, and Yang Ji-in's 575 points.
