LISA of the group BLACKPINK has become the first Asian solo artist to win Best Pop at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

At the MTV VMAs held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on the 27th (local time), LISA won the major Best Pop category with "Dream," beating out pop stars such as Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift.

"Dream" is a track featuring Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi.

Among K-pop acts, the group BTS won this category in 2020, and LISA is the first K-pop solo artist to win it.

It is also the first time for an Asian solo artist.

When her name was called as the winner, LISA took the stage with a surprised expression and expressed her gratitude in her acceptance speech to Kentaro Sakaguchi and everyone who helped create the song.

On this day, LISA was nominated in the most categories among K-pop artists at this year's VMAs.

She was nominated in four categories, including Best Pop, Best K-Pop, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.
