Jeong Cheon-soo, the former head of Yeolin Gonggam TV who was indicted on charges of raising the "Julie" allegations regarding Kim Keonhee, has faced a prosecution demand for a two-year prison sentence.

Prosecutors made the request to the court on September 28 during the final hearing in the trial of Jeong on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act and defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, held at Criminal Agreement Division 34 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Han Sungjin).

A two-year prison sentence was also sought for Ahn Hae-wook, former head of the Korea Elementary School Taekwondo Association, who was indicted together on the same charges.

The prosecution stated, "The victims suffered immense pain due to this case, and the damage has not been restored to date," adding, "The victim is also petitioning for stern punishment."


In response, Jeong's defense argued, "It cannot be concluded that the report's content was false, and it also had public interest value," maintaining that he should be found not guilty.

The court scheduled the sentencing hearing for October 29.

Jeong was brought to trial on charges of reporting Ahn's remarks in an interview format on the YouTube channel 'Yeolin Gonggam TV' ahead of the 20th presidential election in 2022.

Ahn was indicted alongside him for appearing on the broadcast at the time and claiming that he had seen Kim working at an adult entertainment establishment in the past.

The prosecution indicted them, determining that they publicized false facts for the purpose of defeating former President Yoon Suk Yeol, who was the People Power Party presidential candidate at the time.

Earlier in May, Kim appeared in court as a witness to directly refute the allegations and expressed her wish for their punishment.

At the time, Kim stated, "I have never even used the syllable 'Ju' of 'Julie' as a name," adding, "They turned a person's life into a lie."
