Expectations are growing for improving relations between the U.S. government and Anthropic as U.S. President Donald Trump has scheduled a one-on-one meeting with Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic.

President Trump invited CEO Amodei to a private one-on-one dinner at the White House on the 27th (local time), U.S. online media outlet Axios reported, citing multiple sources.

Sources stated that President Trump directly invited Amodei to today's dinner after the CEO was unable to attend the state dinner hosted for Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 24th due to a scheduling conflict.

Today's dinner also takes place ahead of a scheduled meeting between President Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and CEOs of major AI companies at the White House on the 29th.

This dinner, marking the first one-on-one meeting between the two, is interpreted as a sign of a thaw in the previously strained relations between the U.S. government and Anthropic.

Previously, the U.S. Department of Defense designated Anthropic as a "supply chain risk" company, a label typically applied to firms from hostile nations, and the U.S. Department of Commerce once imposed export control guidelines on Anthropic's "Claude Mythos 5 and Fable 5," temporarily suspending their services.

Recently, President Trump strongly criticized the AI slowdown theory advocated by CEO Amodei, calling it a "scam" and a measure that would only benefit China.

In particular, it was reported that several months ago, when Anthropic sought a one-on-one meeting with President Trump, the White House rejected it on the grounds that "Dario is too nerdy for President Trump to deal with."

Given the current administration's governance style, which reacts very sensitively to President Trump's personal tendencies and relationships, a one-on-one meeting with the President is considered an invaluable opportunity for any company, Axios evaluated.

Regarding this meeting, a White House official stated, "As President Trump has made clear, the United States will lead the world in superintelligence (SI) while protecting American consumers. We will drive innovation, strengthen American competitiveness, and ensure this transformative technology works for the American people."
