A Chinese woman in her 50s suspected of killing her elderly mother in her 70s with a weapon during the Chuseok holiday has undergone a warrant review.

The Ansan Sangnok Police Station announced that the warrant review for the woman in her 50s, surnamed A, who faces charges of parricide, was held this afternoon at the Ansan Branch of the Suwon District Court.

A is accused of wielding a weapon against her mother in her 70s, with whom she lived, at a multi-family housing unit in Sangnok-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, at around 1:00 AM yesterday, causing her death.

Immediately after the crime, A informed an acquaintance, and police dispatched following a report from the acquaintance arrested her at the scene as a criminal caught in the act.

It was learned that both A and her mother are Chinese nationals and had been living together alone in the housing unit.

The two reportedly often argued over daily habits and other matters, and A is said to have stated that she committed the crime impulsively during an argument with her mother on the day of the incident.

A's detention status is expected to be decided late tonight.
