As the Iran-backed Houthi rebels continue their attacks on Saudi Arabia, schools in the capital city of Riyadh have switched to remote learning for a week.

According to AFP, schools in Riyadh sent emails to parents yesterday, September 26, announcing the suspension of in-person classes and the implementation of remote learning.

The schools explained in the email that the suspension was a measure taken in accordance with the decision of Saudi authorities.

This measure comes as the Houthi rebels intensify their attacks against Saudi Arabia, leading to expectations that the hostilities will not easily come to an end anytime soon.

The Houthi rebels have been ratcheting up their attacks on Saudi Arabia since a years-long truce broke down in July.

The Saudi-led coalition announced on September 25 that it had intercepted Houthi drones and ballistic missiles targeting Saudi Arabia.

According to the UN Security Council, recent Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia have left civilians, including women and children, injured.
