Marine Corps Commandant Ju Il-suk is visiting the Philippines from today (September 27) to September 30, the Marine Corps announced.

Visiting Manila at the invitation of the Philippine Marine Corps, Commandant Ju will meet with local officials during the visit, including Secretary of National Defense Gilberto Teodoro and Acting Commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps Bayani Curaming (the current deputy commandant).

Through the meetings, they plan to discuss ways to strengthen military cooperation between the two nations' Marine Corps and expand defense industry cooperation, the Marine Corps said.

During his visit to the Philippines, Commandant Ju also plans to visit the Korean War Memorial to lay a wreath and honor the sacrifices of Filipino veterans who fell in the Korean War.
