The South Korean softball national team, aiming for its first-ever Asian Games medal, suffered a defeat against China, bringing its round-robin record to one win and one loss.

The national team lost 4-8 to China in the second match of the round-robin stage at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held at the Anjo Softball Stadium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, today (September 27).

After a tied 1-1 game, South Korea conceded seven runs over two innings in the fourth and fifth innings, ultimately falling behind.

In its opening match against Thailand on September 26, the national team secured a dominant 7-0 victory.

A total of eight countries—South Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore—are competing in this year's Asian Games, with medal winners determined by round-robin standings.

South Korea's best-ever finish in the tournament is fourth place, achieved at the 1990 Beijing, 1994 Hiroshima, and 2010 Guangzhou Games.

Host nation Japan, which is pursuing its seventh consecutive title, is considered the heavy favorite to win.

South Korea will face the Philippines at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow (September 28) at the same venue.
