It has been found that 86 former officials from the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) have moved to the top 10 law firms, including Kim & Chang, Bae, Kim & Lee, and Shin & Kim, over the past 10 years.

Critics point out that a close inspection is necessary, as these retirees can leverage their experience in handling FTC cases and personal networks to respond to corporate sanctions.

According to data from the National Health Insurance Service obtained by Representative Han Chang-min of the Social Democratic Party, a member of the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee, a total of 86 individuals moved from the FTC to the top 10 law firms between January 2016 and August of this year.

A total of 44 individuals moved to three major law firms: 21 to Kim & Chang, 10 to Yoon & Yang (HwaWoo), and 13 to Bae, Kim & Lee.

The remaining moves include 11 to Yulchon, 8 to Lee & Ko, 8 to Shin & Kim, 5 to Jipyong, 5 to Continental Aju, 4 to Barun, and 1 to YK.

Data showed that their compensation after moving increased anywhere from 1.7 to 3.7 times compared to before their departure.
